Newcastle United defender Dan Taylor has joined non-league Ashington on-loan.

The 18-year-old, from Whitley Bay, netted in the recent second string match with Bolton Wanderers at the club's training centre.

Taylor, who played 45 minutes of the behind closed doors 3-2 win over Kilmarnock earlier this week, would have been without game time over the festive period.

But in a work experience loan deal for the Academy player he will now play in the Colliers' festive games Bedlington Terriers, Norton and Tow Law, says the Evening Chronicle.
