Newcastle's Pardew targeting 3 new players this summer

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has revealed that he wants three new players in the next transfer window.

The Magpies lost star midfielder Yohan Cabaye to Paris Saint-Germain for around £20million last month which has seen them crying out for quality since his departure.

News of a £9.9m profit in the last financial year has been welcomed by Pardew and the fact he lacks out and out class in some areas on the pitch has prompted him to put together a summer wishlist.

"We are going to need at least two or three signings who come straight into that team or have a very, very good chance of starting," he said.

"I think we have got a summer where we are going to have to be a lot more active than we have been for a while because we are looking light in certain areas.

"The strikers are an area where that we are going to have to address, for sure, and we are going to have to find a replacement for Cabaye, so that's a big job in itself, let alone perhaps a couple of other positions that we might need.

"The finances of the club are in good shape. As I have said before, we know we have got to do some work in the summer after losing Cabaye, we we'd like to think we will have to spend some of that this summer.

"But the board has done well to get those figures and we look forward to the next period of, hopefully, our growth."
