Newcastle United remain interested in Reading fullback Nicky Shorey.
The Shields Gazette says it is believed that Toon boss Kevin Keegan has identified left-back Shorey for a £5million move to St James Park, and he will be boosted by developments over the past few days which have seen the England international postpone contract talks.
