Newcastle United are hoping to drop Sandro Tonali's wages at the club while he is suspended.
The Italian is out of commission for the next ten months due to a betting ban.
Tonali, who admitted to betting on AC Milan games while he was their player, will miss the rest of this season.
Per The Telegraph, Newcastle are very unlikely to sue Milan, as there is no proof the Italians were aware of this behavior at the time.
What they are doing is talking with Tonali's lawyers about reducing his wages as a result of the suspension.
He is one of the top earners at the club since his summer arrival, which is an issue for the Magpies.
