Newcastle plan move for De Gea amid Pope blow

Newcastle United are considering a move for free agent David de Gea.

Newcastle are in need for a new keeper signing after Nick Pope suffered a shoulder dislocation against Manchester United on Saturday.

There's concerns Pope will require surgery which could see him sidelined for 2-3 months.

The Daily Mail says De Gea has been discussed at Newcastle, with the former Manchester United goalkeeper a free agent after coming off contract over the summer.

De Gea has spoken with Real Betis and received and rejected offers from the Saudi Pro League in recent weeks.

A deal to the end of the season is now being considered at Newcastle for the Spaniard.
