Newcastle United face delays over hopes of signing Ajax midfielder Vurnon Anita.

United must also wait to see if their bid for Vurnon Anita will be accepted, says the Evening Chronicle.

The 23-year-old Ajax star was scouted several times by both manager Alan Pardew and chief scout Graham Carr last season.

Anita is still on holiday but Harry Lulofs, the player's agent, said: "Newcastle have been watching him for a long time and really want to sign him."
