Newcastle United have moved a step closer in their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur outcast Andros Townsend.
Townsend is widely expected to be leaving Spurs in January after falling out of favour with manager Mauricio Pochettino and recent reports had claimed that Newcastle were very keen on signing the England international.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, the Magpies have now pushed through with their pursuit of Townsend and are now set to land the 24-year-old in January on a loan deal - which will include an option to purchase permanently at the end of the season.
