Derby County are set to get a clear run at FC Twente striker Luc Castaignos.
The Evening Chronicle says Castaignos is not a priority target for Newcastle United.
Derby County boss Steve McClaren watched the Dutch Under-21 international and there was talk that United and the Rams are battling for his signature.
But United are believed to have other targets.
