Newcastle United have joined Manchester United's interest in Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.
The Mexico international was scouted by United last week. However, they face competition for Gimenez with Newcastle also keen.
La Razon says Newcastle are preparing to bid for the former Cruz Azul starlet.
Feyenoord coach Arne Slot recently said of the summer signing: “It is already special that he plays football here. Most people don't know, but in Mexico you can earn a little more money than at Feyenoord. It says a lot about the conscious choice he made.
“It cannot be ruled out that there are clubs left and right that say 'gosh, he shoots them in easily and is still quite young'."
