Newcastle United have made a move for Lille midfielder Thiago Maia.
Toon boss Rafa Benitez has had a frustrating summer market so far, making just two signings in Ki Sung-yueng and Martin Dubravka.
However, Le 10 Sport says Newcastle are now moving for their third in Maia.
Newcastle have asked Lille about taking the Brazilian on-loan for the new season. The offer includes the option to make the transfer permanent next June.
But Lille have rejected the proposal, informing Newcastle they'll only do business over a straight sale.
