Newcastle fullback Trippier: Attitude proved for Man Utd draw

Newcastle United's Kieran Trippier outlined his delighted at the club's change in philosophy under Eddie Howe.

The Magpies put in a spirited and energetic display against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Newcastle secured a valuable 0-0 draw in the Premier League fixture, taking the game to the Red Devils rather than sitting back and defending all game.

"We are delighted from the first game until now because we changed our philosophy in how we want to play," said Trippier to Sky Sports post-game.

"We want to go for teams and coming to Old Trafford we knew it was going to be difficult.

"We didn't want to sit off them; we wanted to press them and I think it was an entertaining game. To come away from Old Trafford with a draw and a clean sheet, and the chances that we had in the first half as well, yes, we're happy.

"Coming to these types of places you need to be clinical and take your chances, because you don't get many. You see Marcus' (Rashford) chance at the end and these little details are the difference. I am happy it didn't go in, obviously, but we need to learn from this. Coming to places to like Man United, the top teams in the league, you need to take your chances."
