Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is keen on Tottenham winger Andros Townsend.
The Journal says the United boss has been keen for the club to look at the domestic market and has proposed Townsend to club directors.
Despite Pardew's recommendation, United are likely to stick with the overseas market that they have squeezed value from this summer.
