Newcastle United are eyeing a raid on Everton as cover for Sandro Tonali.

With the Italy midfielder's 10-month betting ban now confirmed, Newcastle are drawing up plans to find cover.

The Athletic says two midfielders at Everton are on their radar - Andre Gomes and Amadou Onana.

Gomes would be easier for Newcastle to prise away, though Onana can leave in January for the right price.

Everton face the need to sell, even with 777 Partners preparing to buy the club, and Newcastle are expected to move for one of Gomes or Onana over the New Year.
