Newcastle United have received some encouragement in their pursuit of Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.

The Foxes are struggling financially and are yet to sign a single player this summer.

And Brendan Rodgers has admitted the club must sell players before the window shuts.

Speaking before Leicester's trip to Arsenal, Rodgers said said: "The club need to move some players on and then we'll see what that releases.

"We have no guarantees at this stage."

Chelsea are also interested in Wesley Fofana.

The Blues have had two bids rejected for the French centre-back.
