Newcastle defender Emil Krafth admits Malmo FF tried to sign him in January.

The Sweden international recently penned a new deal with the Toon.

"They were a bit optimistic. I feel that I have a few years left abroad before that issue will be brought up," Krafth told Fotbollskanalen.

"They probably tried to make a 'fouling' and were a little optimistic. But I feel that I am not ready abroad."

The 29-year-old admits that MFF checked with his agent.

"Yes, they checked with the agent. I don't think it was more than that," he added.
