Newcastle United defender Sven Botman has suffered an ACL injury.

Scans have revealed the setback suffered in the FA Cup quarterfinal defeat to Manchester City on Saturday.

The Holland U21 international now faces six to nine months of rehabilitation after surgery.

His operation is scheduled for next week.

The 24 year-old suffered a previous knee injury in September which saw him miss 17 games. It was decided at that time that would not require surgery.
