Newcastle defender Botman hoping to make Holland's World Cup squad

Newcastle United defender Sven Botman says he still has hopes of making Holland's World Cup squad.

If a squad is picked on current form, Botman should have a reasonable chance of being on the plane alongside stars Virgil van Dijk, Denzel Dumfries and Frenkie De Jong.

After the 2-1 win after Spurs at the weekend, Botman said: "It's still my dream to get into the final selection. But I am just focusing on every game I play now for Newcastle and then we will see what happens.

"I have not spoken to the manager (Louis van Gaal). Nothing. It's the second time I have been called up.

"I am just doing my best and want to prove that I belong to the squad and waiting to see what he does."
