Newcastle United are considering their legal options as they wait on Sandro Tonali's betting verdict.
The midfielder is expected to receive a 10-month playing ban by local Italian prosecutors for placing illegal bets.
Il Corriere dello Sport says Newcastle have threatened to sue Tonali's former club, AC Milan.
Toon management are said to be furious about Tonali's probable suspension.
Newcastle paid AC Milan over €70m to sign the midfielder last summer. The betting relates to when Tonali was a Milan player.
Newcastle will withhold Tonali's wages during the suspension period. He earns €8m net per season.
Juventus, in contrast, have chosen to continue paying Nicolò Fagioli - who received a seven-month suspension.
