Former Newcastle United forward Santiago Munoz had a great experience at the club.

The Mexican signed an 18-month loan deal with the Magpies in August 2021, reminding many fans of a character from the movie Goal!.

However, the 20-year-old Santos Laguna prospect did not shine at the St. James' Park club, and his loan was not made permanent.

Reflecting on Munoz's exit and time at the club, first-team development coach Ben Dawson told ChronicleLive: "I think he's enjoyed his time here. As much as we didn't take the option, he's had a great experience, loved his time here and made some friends.

“He's improved as a footballer and as a person, so I think he goes back in a better place."
