Newcastle United are closing on a deal for Inter Milan midfielder Valentino Lazaro.

The Daily Mail says Newcastle have agreed a £1.25m loan fee for Lazaro with an option to sign him permanently for £19.75m in the summer.

The 23-year-old Austrian midfielder had also held talks with RB Leipzig and Bologna.

Lazaro began his career at Red Bull Salzburg in 2012 before earning a move to Hertha Berlin three years ago.

He made the move to the San Siro in July but has struggled for minutes under Antonio Conte.
