Newcastle boss Howe tribute to Fernandez; discusses Dubraka future

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe paid tribute to Federico Fernandez this morning.

After five years with the Toon, the Argentine defender left on deadline day for Elche.

Howe said, "What an incredible professional. A great guy and I can't speak highly enough of him and his contribution. Unfortunately for us he picked up a couple of injuries so we didn't see a lot of him on the pitch but behind the scenes he was incredible."

Howe also commented on goalkeeper Martin Dubravka's move to Manchester United.

He added: "Martin is obviously still our player, he's on loan. We didn't want to lose him but you have to understand and respect the player's wishes. Hopefully we've come to a situation that suits him."
