Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is delighted with the way Miguel Almiron has responded to his management.

The Paraguayan forward has six goals in as many games and looks certain to win the Premier League Player of the Month for October. Howe hinted at a player who was restricted by the previous regime.

"Down the years, I've learned never to underestimate players' abilities given the right surroundings, conditions and confidence," he said.

"I've seen it many times, players I've worked with at League Two level that have then been playing in the Championship a couple of years later when you wouldn't have initially thought that possible.

"I would never put that limitation on. You never know what someone is capable of until you start working with them. Miggy's starting scoring goals and I'm really pleased for him, but his overall performances have been very strong. The right attitude and good consistent work can elevate them to performances even they didn't think they were capable of."
