Newcastle United are locked in talks with Atalanta for Duvan Zapata.

The striker has welcomed interest from Newcastle and is waiting for the two clubs to settle terms.

A loan arrangement, reports TMW, is being discussed, which would run to June and include a permanent option.

La Dea wants a €40m permanent clause set with an obligatory option no matter whether Newcastle stay up or are relegated.

For their part, Newcastle want the option to only be triggered should they beat the drop. Negotiations will continue today.
