Newcastle United are again being linked with Benfica midfielder Andreas Samaris.

O Jogo says Benfica are now waiting for the Premier League club to make an official offer to loan the midfielder for the rest of the season.

Newcastle are said to be putting things in writing after work already done by intermediaries trying to build a transfer transfer.

It would see the Premier League club pay €500k to loan the player for the rest of the season, with his contract at Benfica expiring in June.

Rafael Benitez's side would have an option to then enforce a three year contract, and the Lisbon club would be entitled to 50% of any future transfer fee.
