New Southampton director Krueger: I won't get involved in Pochettino's affairs

Incoming Southampton director Ralph Krueger insists he will not stick his nose where it is not wanted following his appointment to the board.

The 54-year old Canadian-born German former ice hockey coach and player has been brought in by Saints chairman Katharina Liebherr to take care of off-field duties.

Krueger admits it will be a big change moving from his beloved ice hockey to a brand new sport for him and says he has no place getting involved with manager Mauricio Pochettino's day-to-day obligations.

"This is the start of a new world for me. I have got to come in gently," Krueger told BBC Sport.

"We don't need sudden changes of direction. What Mauricio doesn't need is someone getting involved day-to-day.

"He and his staff need space so they can continue to grow the group. I've met Mauricio; he's very honest, a strong personality and he has strong values.

"I will stay in my place. He should feel comfortable."
