Middlesbrough have continued talks with La Liga club Valencia over a possible loan move for striker Alvaro Negredo, according to the Daily Mail.
The report claims that Negredo's current wage of £112,000 a week could prove to be a stumbling block in a potential move for the 30-year-old.
However, Boro are close to securing a permanent deal for another Valencia player in Antonio Barragan.
The 29-year-old right-back, who started his career with Liverpool, has only one year left on his current deal at the Mestalla and is keen to play under Aitor Karanka at Middlesbrough.
A delegation from the Boro has reportedly travelled to Valencia on Tuesday to discuss both deals.
