Nantes president Waldemar Kita says he was responsible for placing Papy Djilobodji at Chelsea.
Kita slammed the defender's agent after helping the 27 year-old land his dream move to London.
He told RMC: "I knew where I was going to put him. He has an agent who knows nothing about football. This boy is going to be killed if he continues to be used to make money. I held out for two months. I tried to put him in a club of some value because he has physical, mental and athletic skills to go further.
"But there are plenty of people around them who advise him very badly."
Kita continued: "It was I who found the club, who worked on it and tried to negotiate the best possible wages for him. I have not even received a phone call to say thank-you, neither from he nor his agent."
