Nantes have made a claim to FiFA against Cardiff City, over the transfer fee for Emiliano Sala.

The Argentine striker became Cardiff's record signing in January but died without playing for the club after a plane carrying him crashed into the English Channel.

Cardiff have holding off on paying the first instalment of the fee until the crash investigation is completed.

A FIFA spokesperson told Sky Sports on Wednesday: "We can confirm that we have received yesterday evening a claim from FC Nantes against Cardiff City in connection with the transfer of Emiliano Sala.

"We are looking into the matter and consequently we have no further comments at this stage."
