David Moyes says Manchester United sacking him cost the club Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos.

In the summer of 2014, Kroos moved to Real Madrid .

But speaking on beIN Sports over the weekend, Moyes declared that Kroos would instead have been heading to United had he remained in place.

“During the season I had met Toni Kroos," said Moyes.

"And he agreed that he would come to Manchester United before he went to Real Madrid.

“But somewhere in there, I lost my job and Toni chose to go elsewhere."
