Montreal Impact president Saputo wants more voice for members

Montreal Impact have implemented a new strategy in the way it will allow its supporters to have more of a voice.

A statement on the MLS clubs official website read: "The Montreal Impact announced on Wednesday that the club has made some changes to the way it will do business in 2014 as season ticket holders will now become club members.

"Looking for improved interaction and even more transparency than before, the club will consult its supporters in regards to certain strategic organizational decisions.

"The Impact will get feedback from surveys filled out exclusively by season ticket holders, results will be divulged to members and an annual meeting will be organized with members.

Impact president Joey Saputo believes the move will give fans much more say in the how the club is run as they look to embark on the 10,000-member mark.

"The team has been founded on the values of loyalty and determination, and we want our supporters to participate regularly and actively in certain club decisions through recommendations," declared Saputo.

"For example, should we play games in the evening or in the afternoon. Should we play during the week or on weekends? Should we start playing home games later on during the season? Should the team play international games? Which Stade Saputo services should we improve?

"All of these questions deserve to be asked."
