Swansea City boss Garry Monk expressed his disappointment after losing his only acknowledged striker Bafetimbi Gomis to injury.
The French attacker, who had scored four goals in his last six Premier League outings, sustained a hamstring injury in last weekend's 1-1 draw with Everton which is expected to keep him out for around a month.
"It's definitely an area we need to strengthen," said Monk who lost Wilfried Bony to Manchester City in the winter.
"Bafe was our only recognised striker when Wilfried Bony left so this injury is a blow because he has been very confident and showing why I brought him to the club.
"He has been a big player for us and it's disappointing because he was hitting a great bit of form, scoring goals and contributing to the team.
"I'm sure Bafe will come back fresh and he has the ability to score a lot of goals in this league. Hopefully he will get some games before the end to take form that into next season."
