Monchengladbach's de Jong again on Newcastle radar

Newcastle United are ready to make another play for Dutch striker Luuk de Jong.

The Magpies went after de Jong when he was with FC Twente in the summer of 2012 but instead he moved to German club Borussia Monchengladbach.

Since arriving in Germany, de Jong has scored just eight goals in 45 appearances in all competitions but that hasn't stopped the Magpies from showing considerable interest.

Sky Sports is of the belief that Newcastle are confident of bringing de Jong to St James' Park on an initial loan with the view to a permanent deal.
