AS Monaco management are adamant they will NOT be signing off contract Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes.
Valdes, currently recovering from a serious knee injury, failed a Monaco medical last week, which led to club officials declaring they would not be committing to the pre-contract agreed last season.
This led to Valdes' agent, Gines Carvajal, insisting the deal would indeed happen - reminding ASM of the four-year contract which had been signed.
But Monaco hit back last night, releasing a statement to Nice Matin: "The club has signed a promise of employment in January subject to a condition that the player is able to play football at the beginning of the season in Ligue 1.
"Unfortunately the player is not able to play soon (after) the beginning (of the season), so the contract is null and void as it was intended in the promise of employment."
It's anticipated Carvajal will respond today.
