Mkhitaryan and Arsenal agree he can't travel to Baku for Europa League final

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is out of Arsenal's Europa League final against Chelsea in Azerbaijan.

UEFA have failed to give the necessary assurances over the safety of the ex-Manchester United man, amid ongoing political tensions between host nation Azerbaijan and the player's home country, Armenia.

Mkhitaryan has played more minutes in the competition than any other Arsenal outfield player but he will not travel with his teammates.

He took to Instagram to address the developments, posting: "Having considered all the current options, we had to take the tough decision for me not to travel with the squad to the Europa League Final.

"It's the kind of game that doesn't come along very often for us players and I must admit, it hurts me a lot to miss it. I will be cheering my teammates on! Let's bring it home."
