Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is delighted with the recent form of midfielder David Meyler.
Bruce says Meyler's attitude has played a key role in establishing him in his long-term plans for Sunderland.
"David's certainly played very well. He's been unfortunate this year in that he's turned his ankle three times; he did it badly in pre-season," Bruce told safc.com.
"The kid's got a heart as big as himself though and his progress shows what a bit of endeavour and enthusiasm can do. He's desperate to do well and we hope he is fit for the weekend.
"He has been a big boost for us. We're blessed with a few good young players. Young Noble's out at Watford and we have Waghorn and Colback coming back in the summer, so our squad looks healthy with a few of the kids in there."
