Melbourne Heart hoping to tie up Kalmar on long-term deal

Fledgling A-League club Melbourne Heart are hoping to secure the services of talented midfielder Nick Kalmar. The 22-year old has been one of the buys of the A-League season so far, joining the Heart from Victorian Premier League club Oakleigh Cannons, and club is keen to sign him on a long-term deal.

Kalmar is currently on a one-year contract but today marks the opening of the window where players coming off contract at the end of the season can talk to interested clubs, prompting the Heart to begin talks for a longer stay.

The former Melbourne Knights junior has scored two goals for the Heart after eight weeks of the 2010/11 season and has been ultra impressive in the centre of the pitch during Josip Skoko's absence.
