McMahon signs new deal at Middlesbrough to new deal

Middlesbrough defender Tony McMahon has signed a new deal with the club, keeping him at the Riverside until 2012.

The 23-year old has impressed since returning from a loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday and is excited about his future with Boro and plans to achieve plenty of success.

"I'm delighted to sign a new deal with Boro," he told the club's official website.

"It's exactly what I wanted. Even when I went on loan to Sheffield Wednesday earlier this season I always said I wanted to come back to Middlesbrough.

"Why would I want to leave? I've been through a lot but the club always stood by me. Now I've got aims that I want to achieve here.

"There's no reason why I can't achieve things with my hometown club. I want to captain the team and I want to win something."
