James McClean has welcomed the addition of Steve Guppy to the Sunderland coaching staff.

The Sunderland ace, who burst into the Premier League last Christmas, says he is determined to improve this term and is using wing coach Guppy to learn new tricks.

Republic of Ireland international McClean said: "Gupps was a good player, so anything he can do to help me, I'm more than willing to take on board.

"I'm not perfect and I want to improve my game. If you have someone working with you, it can only help."
