Enric Masip is confident Daniel Alves will prove a positive signing for Barcelona.
Masip acts as an advisor to Barca president Joan Laporta.
And he is confident that Alves will contribute to Barcelona's project and will be a great influence for young players in the dressing room.
"It is the coaches who have to give their opinion," Masip said at a press conference.
"Alves has won the most titles in history and can help in terms of playing, but also transmitting things to young people in the dressing room.
"He comes for free and with purpose. He comes to help. It's not as if we signed the fittest player in the world.
"Sometimes things are taken out of context. There is not much margin to sign and he is not costing us anything. Players like Gavi, Nico [Gonzalez], [Yusuf] Demir, Eric [Garcia]... are important.
"I was surprised by the enthusiasm that Dani Alves has generated. It's like when [Michael] Jordan returned to the Wizards. It's always nice.
"Xavi thought that if he can help us, we should go ahead."
