Everton boss Roberto Martinez is keen to bring Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell back to the club.
Rodwell joined Manchester City in a high-profile £16million move two years ago, but has seen his Eastlands dream turn into an injury nightmare.
Recurring hamstring and ankle problems have restricted the 22-year-old to a pitiful nine starts for the Mancunian Blues.
The Mirror says Martinez remains an admirer though, and he was even ready to turn Gareth Barry's loan into a permanent deal to facilitate a temporary move for Rodwell.
