Manchester United have tabled a contract offer to Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
The France World Cup winner is United's top defensive target for the summer market and is leaning towards leaving Madrid in the coming months.
With his deal about to enter it's final 12 months, Real Madrid face the prospect of selling him now, or risk losing the defender for nothing in a year's time.
Tuttosport says United are already in talks with Varane's minders and have offered him a contract worth €12m-a-year.
For the moment, talks between the two clubs are yet to open with Carlo Ancelotti now assessing the squad after being appointed Real coach last week.
