Man Utd prepare detailed plan for Greenwood return

Manchester United have drawn up a detailed internal plan as they prepare to bring back Mason Greenwood.

An announcement is expected next week that Greenwood is rejoining the squad after assault charges were dropped at the beginning of the year.

The Athletic says United's planning includes the types of pictures that should be taken of the striker during training sessions. Manager Erik ten Hag has also been coached on how to answer questions on the forward.

And an assessment of how pundits, journalists and politicians will respond has been put together. Public figures are said to have been placed into categories of "supportive", "open minded" and "hostile" towards Greenwood's comeback.

A source told The Sun: "This has been a long and difficult process for everyone involved, but it's nearing the end.

"The internal investigation is over and Mason is likely to be reinstated at Old Trafford.

"He's made no secret of his desire to to get back to doing what he does best.

"He's already got the backing of the players and manager Erik ten Hag. He's just waiting for the green light."
