Brazil star Casemiro has come to the defense of his teammate Neymar at the World Cup.

The defensive midfielder, who scored his side's winning goal against Switzerland in the group stages, was furious at how some supporters reacted to Neymar's injury in their match against Serbia.

Casemiro took aim at fans who celebrated Neymar's World Cup injury, stating they lacked character.

Neymar is likely to be back for Brazil when they play in the knockout stages of the competition.

“It's a shame that people wish others harm," he said to reporters.

“They lack character completely.

“I think education comes from the cradle. Personally, I'm sad because Neymar doesn't deserve this.

“He's a person who helps others so much."
