Man Utd manager ten Hag left floored by Timber rejecting summer transfer

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag cannot believe Jurrien Timber has decided against joining the Premier League giants.

Ten Hag handed Timber his debut at Ajax and helped the young defender become a Netherlands international.

Given their history, ten Hag was confident Timber would follow him to Old Trafford.

However, Timber is reluctant to swap Ajax and United and The Mirror - via Metro - reports that ten Hag has been left 'stunned' by the decision.

20-year-old Timber fears a move to United could jeopardise his chances of making the Holland squad for this year's World Cup.

Louis van Gaal has reportedly warned his players they will not be selected if they are not playing at regularly at their respective clubs.

Ten Hag was so confident of signing Timber that he instructed United's hierarchy to focus on acquiring Christian Eriksen and Frenkie De Jong ahead of the young Dutchman.
