Man Utd keeper coach Alvarez drops hint of De Gea contract breakthrough

Manchester United goalkeeper coach Emilio Alvarez has dropped a big hint that David de Gea is ready to commit to a new deal.

United recently triggered a one-year option on De Gea's current deal, which now runs until summer 2020, but have been unable to agree an extension beyond that.

It had been reported in the last few days that the Spaniard was only ready to commit himself to the Old Trafford club if he was offered a deal to match top-earning Alexis Sanchez.

Talks are believed to be ongoing but a post on social media from Emilio Alvarez suggests a breakthrough may well have been reached.

Alvarez, the club's goalkeeper coach, uploaded a picture to Instagram on Thursday alongside De Gea and another friend with the caption: "Friends, coffee time, excited future ahead."
