Former Manchester United winger Andrei Kanchelskis has lamented the standard of Russian football development.
Indeed, Kanchelskis feels Russia are over a generation away from producing players good enough for the Premier League.
He told RB Sport: "There are problems with football in Russia now, the level is falling.
"Of course, I want the guys from Russia to play in the best European championships. But I think that in the next 20-25 years not a single Russian football player will play in the Premier League; there is a completely different level of football there.
"Stars play there, there is a different understanding of football."
Along with United, Kanchelskis also played in England for Everton, Manchester City and Southampton.
