Manchester United fans have taken to Twitter to express their frustration at missing out on yet another transfer target.
The joy felt by the Red Devils faithful after the news of Victor Lindelof's signing proved short lived, with the Manchester Evening News reporting that Jose Mourinho had no interest in signing Monaco utility Fabinho.
The defensive midfielder, who can also play right back, was viewed as an ideal signing for United.
Instead, reports have suggested that Mourinho will now focus on signing Chelsea's Nemanja Matic or Tottenham youngster Eric Dier.
United have missed out on signing Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann and are struggling to finalise a deal for Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata.
