Manchester United would need to pay big compensation to secure Dan Ashworth.
The INEOS group that are set to buy 25 percent of United want to install him as the new sporting director.
Ashworth has the same job at Newcastle United at present, who are not eager to let him go.
Per The Mail, Ashworth does not have a set release clause, which means Newcastle have to agree to an early termination.
The Magpies would want a mega fee, given Newcastle paid £5 million for him to Brighton last year.
Ashworth is the man that Sir Jim Ratcliffe of INEOS believes can take United back to the top.
