Manchester United will be due a cash boost should Chelsea sign Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku.

Inter were keen to hang on to the striker who fired the goals that helped them to win the Serie A title last season, but a £100million offer for the 28-year-old forward would be too much to turn down.

The Manchester Evening News says United could be big winners from Lukaku's mega move, with the Old Trafford club set to receive a sell-on fee as part of the shrewd clause inserted into deal they agreed with Inter to sell the striker in 2019.

There are suggestions that United could collect around £5million from Chelsea's deal for Lukaku, adding funds to what the Old Trafford club hope will be an active month of player departures.
