Man Utd director Gill set for FIFA finance role

Manchester United director David Gill is reportedly on the verge of accepting a role on the reformed FIFA finance committee.

The Daily Mail is reporting that Gill, who also sits on the FIFA and UEFA executive committees and the FA board, is prepared to take on the responsibility of being the senior FIFA figure on the finance committee, where he will be charged with monitoring the organisations monetary considerations.

"We have to see what will happen in terms of the finance committee and the composition of the committee. Having said that, I now sit on UEFA's finance committee and also have that role at the Premier League. So I would certainly be prepared to do it at FIFA," Gill said.

The 58-year-old's biggest challenge will be overseeing how FIFA president Gianni Infantino goes about fulfilling his pre-election promise of doubling the funding FIFA pay to every member nation at a time when FIFA's projected budget has a deficit of $550m.
